What are A.C.E. Academy's school hours?
Starting August 27, 2018, our school hours are listed below. The main office is open 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Grades Kindergarten through 4th: 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
Grades 5th through 8th: 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
What is the dress code for A.C.E. Academy schools?
We want to express to our students that dress can be a way to show respect for themselves, for others, and for their school. To that end, A.C.E. Academy requires school uniforms that consist of:
- Solid color, polo-style tops of navy blue, red, or white
- Black, navy blue or khaki pants and/or skirts
- Shoes can be any color but must have black or white laces
- School spirit wear is also acceptable and available for purchase at our online school store.
- Skirts, shorts, or dresses must be fingertip length or longer.
What grades does A.C.E. Academy serve?
Currently, we serve students in grades kindergarten through 8th grade. We will accept applications for each new grade level in November of the prior year the grade level is added (K-8th grade applications in November 2018).
As a charter school, can any student in the area apply to attend A.C.E.?
Yes, any student, grades K-8, from the state of North Carolina may apply to attend A.C.E. Academy. We hold an open enrollment period in the fall of each year during which we accept applications for admission. Students are selected seats at A.C.E. using a lottery system. Once capacity is reached, we create a waiting list and add additional students on a first-come-first-served basis. There is no need for current students to reapply for admission each year as their seats are considered automatic; however, students who have been added to our wait-list but are not yet accepted must reapply during our open enrollment period to be entered into the lottery.
Do you provide transportation to school?
We understand how important safe, reliable transportation is to our families. At A.C.E., we provide limited access to our students who live too far from school to walk. To ensure efficiency with this service, we ask our parents to complete a Transportation Authorization Form upon enrollment. For those families who are selected for bus service, we help organize carpools in our most populated neighborhoods. If you would like to request information regarding carpools, please contact our front office. Please remember that students participating in our before and after school care program do not qualify for bus service.
What will happen if my child becomes ill while at school?
If a student becomes ill, we will attempt to notify a parent or guardian promptly, and we will care for the student in our office until a parent or guardian arrives. Students may not leave school grounds without either a parent or another approved adult (as listed on the student’s information form). If the situation is a medical emergency, we will follow standard emergency procedures. For this reason, it is very important that all contact information remain updated in our files.
What is A.C.E.’s food policy?
A.C.E. offers both breakfast and lunch to our students at fair prices. If your child will be participating in our meal program, we ask that each family keep abreast of their meal account to ensure the appropriate amount of money remains in the account for student use. We do not allow meals on credit.
Students may bring sack lunches to school for mealtimes; however, we do not allow sodas or energy drinks on campus and request that all open canisters contain water. Healthy drink options are available to purchase during students’ scheduled lunchtimes. Teachers may allow snacks in the classroom at their discretion. However, due to allergy restrictions, we are a nut-free campus. Please ensure any snacks or sack lunches abide by this policy.

There was no school today. Can I still bring my child in for before and after school care?
No. Our before and after school care program only operates during regular school days. We do not provide care on holidays, during school closings, or on teacher workdays. If we have a delay start, care will be available after school but not before. For more information about this program, please visit our Before and After School Care page.
